Beyond the sea,
Beyond the sea,

Beyond the sea, "Above the Sea", when the goal is the journey

Beyond the sea, the path that becomes the destination. In Bastia, the second largest city in Corsica on the northeast coast of the island, Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes creates a walkway on the sea, a suspended path between sky and sea.

Un percorso dalle linee sinuose

Aldilonda means "above the sea". The studio specialized in outdoor projects and urban furniture Dietmar Feichtinger Architects, with local architects Buzzo Spinelli, Insitu landscape, and engineers from Sbp France, creates a path anchored in the rock, with sinuous lines, that appears suspended over the water, at the foot of the citadel of Bastia.

Different perspectives for a journey in progress

Alongside follows the steep coast for a full five meters above sea level, on the rock that constitutes the massive natural foundation of the mighty enclosing wall of the citadel. More than as a path, the project appears as a destination, which offers new views of the open sea, suspended between sea and sky.

A winding path merging with sky and sea

The soft lines of the path contrast with the massive fortress and the rock on which it is founded. The path nestles against the rock, leans on it, and crosses it, merging with it and with the natural space. Along the path, there are resting places where it widens, and where one can enjoy the view of the sea.
