Alvaro Catalan


Alvaro Catalan, born in Madrid in 1989, is a European Licensed Architect, graduated from the University of Alcalá (UAH) in Madrid. He completed his master's degree between Madrid, the University of New Mexico (UNM) in the United States, and RWTH Aachen University in Germany. After graduating in 2017, he started working at Ensamble Studio, where he has contributed to various projects over the past ten years and manages the studio's operations. He has significant experience in both design and construction, with a particular focus on prototyping and hands-on work.

Where Vale. Living among the walls of an old bar

Donde Vale, a bar located in a residential area in Madrid, southwest of the city, is closed due to the pandemic. The prolonged pandemic leads the owners to decide that the establishment would not reopen, marking the beginning of a new phase in life, that of retirement: the old workspace is transformed into a living space.
