Born in Istanbul in 1945, Cafer Bozkurt earned his architectural degree from İTÜ, Faculty of Architecture with honors in 1968. Since 1971 he runs his own firm and is the president of Cafer Bozkurt Architecture. Since its foundation the firm has completed a great number of projects in Turkey and abroad, ranging from distinguished residential settlements, holiday resorts and recreational architecture to cultural and educational facilities. Bozkurt, highly recognized and specialized working within the field of Architectural Conversation and Historical Context, has been nominated for the Aga Khan Architectural Awards for nine times. The restoration of the Kılıç Ali Pasha Hamam was awarded in the Protection Category of the European Nostra Awards in 2017.
The firm also received a variety of national and international architecture awards including Union of Historical Towns Architecture Awards, THBB Architecture Awards, The Chicago Athenaeum: International Architecture Awards and Green Good Design Awards as well as acquiring four National Architecture Awards presented by the Turkish Chamber of Architects
