HUB is an architecture and urban design studio founded by Koen Drossaert and Bart Biermans. Established in 2004, the bureau has since built a solid reputation with projects displaying a high degree of architectural, social and intellectual coherence. We believe in the power of welldesigned spaces, not only to improve the quality of life of those who inhabit them but also to foster the sustainable transition and create new possibilities for future generations. This belief is what fuels our search for the most generous and transparent answers to the questions put before us. And gives rise to the idea of ‘intelligent’ space embodied by our subsequent responses

PROJECTS

Zegel a mixed-function building with an exuberant structure toned down by the lightweight aluminum façade shell

The Zegel building, on the corner of major access roads to the city of Antwerp, is built for a mixed program of offices for the district police, residences, and the entrance to a metro station

Lendrik. A building that houses citizen services while redefining the transition between public and private space

Lendrik is a project in collaboration with the city of Brussels which includes a center for local services, a social center and a library. A building that blends its public nature with a private atmosphere which makes citizens feel welcome

Duality of adjacent buildings. Renovated historical warehouse and new residential building

The "Sanda& Stand" project by HUB, located in a prominent position on the Scheldt river bend in Antwerp, includes both the renovation of a historic warehouse and the new construction of a luxurious and elegant residential building

Renovation of a former mining site. Preservation of the character of existing elements

Belgian architectural firm HUB renovates the main building of the Houthalen-Helchteren mining site in favour of an incubator for the Cleantech industry, as part of a redevelopment plan involving the site and the city centre

Old factory converted into an Art Centre. Design and integration with the environment

An old factory site has been converted into an art centre and a children's academy by the architecture studio HUB, not forgetting the attention to design and integration with the environment which are the key elements of the project
