The origins of Sato Oki
Nendo is the studio created by the architect and designer Sato Oki, born in Toronto due to his father's work, which led the family to relocate. He studied at Tokyo Gakugei Oizumi Junior High School and Waseda University Senior High School, before graduating from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Waseda University as the top student in 2000.
The birth of Nendo studio
In 2002, shortly after completing his academic journey in the architecture department, he founded the design studio Nendo. His work spans a wide range of fields, including product design, interior design, architecture, graphics, and corporate branding.
International recognitions
In 2012, he became the youngest designer to receive an award from the British magazine Wallpaper and the Elle Deco International Design Award. In 2015, he was named Designer of the Year by Maison & Objet de Paris, the largest interior design fair in Europe.
