Studioninedots is an architecture and urban design studio based in Amsterdam, founded in 2011 by Albert Herder, Vincent van der Klei, and Metin van Zijl. The studio consists of a multidisciplinary team of 25 professionals, including architects, urban planners, and designers, who collaborate to create spaces that inspire wonder and stimulate human interaction.
Studioninedots' design philosophy is based on creating environments that surpass traditional architectural conventions, embracing innovation and experimentation. The studio places great importance on spatial quality, recognizing that it vitalizes social interaction. Each project is conceived to be not only functional but also capable of evoking emotions and offering unexpected experiences.
Specializing in projects that reactivate and transform complex urban contexts, Studioninedots tackles contemporary challenges by proposing unconventional solutions that promote more collective and circular ways of living. Through careful context analysis and clear interventions, the studio aims to conceive spaces of intrinsic beauty, combining craftsmanship and simplicity.
Among the studio's significant projects are "Villa Fifty-Fifty" in Eindhoven, a pavilion house that blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces through the use of transparent materials, and "Westbeat" in Amsterdam, a residential complex that integrates public and private spaces into a single dynamic structure.
