Since its foundation in 2015, TYO has been working on a range of projects from a small housing to largescaled public facilities in various contexts, focussing on creating a site-specific design that resonates with its environmental condition by applying innovative solutions. Major works of the company includes ‘Toranoko Nursery,’ ‘Clinic in the Woods,’ and ‘Children’s Forest,’ which have won numerous domestic and international architectural awards including Bauwelt Award in Germany, Architecture Asia Awards in Malaysia, Taipei Design Award in Taiwan, Architectural Institute of Japan Young Architects Award, etc.

Obtained a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Tokai University in 2002, and a Master’s degree in
Architecture from Tokyo University of Arts in 2005. After working for ‘Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA’ from 2005 until 2015, founded Takashige Yamashita Office. Currently an adjunct professor at Kyoto University of the Arts, Kanagawa University and Taylor's University.
YoungAh Kang / Partner
Graduated from the University of Toronto School of Architecture in 2009, and studied at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Architecture until she left to start working at ‘Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA’ in 2011. Upon completion of MArch (DRL) at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, UK in 2016, joined Takashige Yamashita Office in 2017. Currently an adjunct professor at Tokyo Designer Academy and Taylor’s University.
