Harmony between Architecture and Landscape

Wittman Estes was born out of the awareness that in our cities and surroundings, buildings and landscapes were being designed as separate entities. The rapid densification of American cities, along with the carbon footprint and growing environmental concerns, were at the forefront of people's priorities. However, the way buildings were designed had remained rooted in the past.

Despite the ambition to improve quality of life, many modern homes were too introverted, conceived as isolated objects, in stark contrast to people's love for nature and desire for a lifestyle that valued connection with the outdoors.

Design Philosophy

Founded by architect Matt Wittman and landscape designer Jody Estes, the studio stands out for an interdisciplinary approach that combines architecture and landscape design in a unique design language. The goal is to create living spaces that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, fostering a constant dialogue with the surrounding natural environment.

Through sustainable residential projects and innovative landscaping interventions, Wittman Estes aims to reduce environmental impact and improve quality of life. The use of natural materials and bioclimatic design strategies allows for the creation of homes that are not only efficient but also in harmony with the natural context.
