Gregory Orekhov

Gregory Orekhov was born in Moscow into the family of an exceptional Russian sculptor and academic, Yuri Orekhov. From a young age, Orekhov studied in his father's workshop, mastering various sculptural techniques and materials. He later continued his studies at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture Ilya Glazunov.

At the age of 25, after his father's premature death, Orekhov began to engage in administrative work at the Russian Academy of Arts, overseeing the "Sculptor" Foundation established by his late father. 

In 2004, Orekhov founded the museum "The Creative Heritage of Academician Yuri Orekhov", where he exhibited a collection of the artist's works, tools, and photographs from the archives. 

In 2012, Orekhov returned to art full-time and started working in the direction of post-minimalism.

He remains faithful to his language: pure form + metaphorical image. One of his central works titled "Agatha" is named after his daughter, whose birth served as an impulse for the creation of this work and his artistic and life journey in general. 

Orekhov is a regular participant in the International Contemporary Art Fair Cosmoscow. Additionally, he participated with his project "Salvation" as part of the parallel program of the Venice Biennale. In 2020, Orekhov created the first large-scale modern sculpture in Russia created in memory of Kazimir Malevich in the park of the same name. He has taken part in solo and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Orekhov's works are found in the collections of the Russian Museum and MAMM, as well as in private collections.
