Design and Materials: A Tribute to Art Déco

The inspiration behind Squire and Partners' design for 18-20 Greycoat Place is drawn from the predominant architectural style in the area, particularly Art Déco, as seen in historic buildings like the Artillery House. The vertically rising sandstone pillars along the facade not only pay homage to this style but also create a visual continuity with the surrounding residential blocks. The choice of materials, such as red sandstone and dark aluminum elements, is inspired by the iconic buildings in the area, including the Westminster Cathedral, thus blending history and modernity in a cohesive architectural dialogue.

The Facade: a play of light and shadow

Distinctive elements of the facade include modern bay windows and dark aluminum spandrels, strategically arranged to reflect the variety of internal uses.
