The concept developed by the architectural studio Akrispazio envisioned the renovation of two buildings: a classic prefabricated hall and an adjacent three-story office building
A New Dimension in Industrial Architecture: Metamorphosis of the MEC PAC Complex
Due to the relocation of the MEC PAC company, operating in the field of plastics, it became necessary to adapt existing buildings to the new requirements associated with the company's operations. The project involved not only functional changes but also aesthetic modifications, giving a fresh character to the adapted space
The first stage of the project focused on the comprehensive reconstruction of the hall, which is the heart of production. It underwent a thorough modernization in terms of functionality and installations
The strategically located office building, serving administrative and managerial functions, gained a new image through changes to its facade. The new design is the result of using slender pillars attached to the existing structure. These vertical elements not only imbue the facades with rhythm and a sense of airiness but also provide essential support for the crown crafted from micro-perforated sheet metal, enveloping the upper section of the building. The addition of an elegant crown subtly disguises the steep roof of the existing structure. Furthermore, the introduction of this horizontal accent, contrasting with the rhythmic columns suggesting a vertical character of the arrangement, perfectly harmonizes the composition of the entire facade. As a result, the building has acquired a new, elegant, and contemporary character
Thanks to Arkispazio's thoughtful office concept, the office building and the production hall were connected by a suspended walkway that directly links the administrative part with the interior of the production hall. Its facade features the same graphic motif composed of rhythmic pillars. At the end of this walkway, inside the hall, an elevated conference room was realized, surrounded by large windows offering a view of the production area. This architectural intervention not only enables the efficient connection of different functions within the complex but also introduces an aesthetic accent
The aesthetics of this project are based on a careful selection of materials. The facade was finished using silicate plaster. The metal structure made of steel pipes covered with yellow-gold aluminum and the use of micro-perforated sheet metal to cover the upper part of the building give the MEC PAC complex a modern character. This is an excellent example of how a creative approach to architecture can significantly alter the character of industrial space
