Designed by the Mexican firm ZOZAYA arquitectos, Casa Acantilado has an architecture that blends in and intertwines with its context thanks to the local materials and forms used, putting into practice the artisanal techniques and vernacular architecture of the area. The volume of the villa is composed of two geometric elements slightly rotated to orient views toward the Pacific: in this project, topography is a determining factor in spatial organization
Casa Acantilado. An endless continuity of architecture along the Pacific
On the Pacific coast of Guerrero in Zihuatanejo Bay, perched on cliffs constantly at the mercy of the sea, stands Casa Acantilado. Open and permeated by its spectacular surroundings, the building conceptualizes the idea of luminous reference in the immense nighttime darkness of the ocean, emerging from the rocks and dialoguing with the small lighthouse not far away

Entering directly from the upper floor, where there is no entrance door, a large Palapa, a covered porch, welcomes the visitor who here meets the social area completely open and exposed to the majestic landscape. The Palapa is made of regional materials such as stone, wood, and palm leaves; it is a traditional structure of the area and is built by local labor; its shape allows the entry of light and natural cross-ventilation reducing the residence's energy consumption
As a final touch to this floor of Casa Acantilado, an infinity pool, partially connected to the main structure, generates a feeling of direct connection with the ocean
The staircase leading to the private area leads along exposed concrete walls without roofs that allow you to see the movement of the treetops; in this house you can feel the outside while being protected. The distributive area ends in the lobby on the lower level where there is a swimming pool contained between concrete walls that frame the endless continuity with the Pacific. The lobby connects to the rooms, each with private terraces that open onto contemplation spaces toward the incredible landscape
