Preexistence reinterpreted. Combination of tradition and contemporaneity

An old farmhouse that has been abandoned, in the historical centre of Cividade del Piano, in the province of Bergamo has been renovated by Zupelli Design Architettura into a private home called "Casa Donella"

The baseline of the project was the link with the surroundings and the pre-existence

In any case, there is no lack of contemporary elements, the contrast is clearly visible in the front elevation

If the ground floor has large arched glass openings, evoking the classical tradition, the upper levels are characterized by a large window that runs on two floors

In the project, the continuity between exterior and interior is significant: on the ground floor, thanks to the large glass arches, there is no visual limit between the interior space and the courtyard, which is incorporated into the house

The same applies to the living area on the first floor and the sleeping area on the second, where the large glass surfaces that characterize the building contrast with the darkness of the interiors
