The close connection with the environment
Serrano Monjaraz Arquitectos designs Casa Tierra, like all its other architectural projects, tailored to the environment and compliant with the most modern and stringent sustainable design regulations
The architectural project in Mexico City starts from the intention of creating a structure in full harmony with the environment through sustainable construction techniques and high energy performance.
Serrano Monjaraz Arquitectos designs Casa Tierra, like all its other architectural projects, tailored to the environment and compliant with the most modern and stringent sustainable design regulations
The construction technology of Casa Tierra consists of Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB) made from the soil of the same plot: an economical and energy-efficient system, resistant to fire and pests; it already provides a high degree of soundproofing, in addition to being durable, structurally sound, and aesthetically pleasing.
The PEB technology provides complete architectural freedom and uses the readily available non-toxic natural raw material: the earth from the site itself. Compared to other bio-architecture systems, it is more flexible and does not affect the width of the walls. The soil has been compressed with 3% cement and 7% lime.
Casa Tierra is an example of intelligent use of all the resources offered by the project site and total respect for the surrounding environment. In its design, all the guidelines of the complex in which it is located have been followed, incorporating elements that characterize its urbanization such as natural stone and exposed concrete in shades of gray, black, and white. The gardens around the house have been integrated into the surrounding natural environment.
