House with a Patio: integrated architecture with nature

In the heart of a dense forest at the foot of the Chilean volcano Villarrica, Casa Un Patio stands as an architectural project that places nature at the center of its essence. This residence tackles challenges related to the protection of native species, isolation, and accessibility, blending architecture with the surrounding environment in a respectful and innovative way.

A void that unites

At the center of Casa Un Patio there is a void, designed to enhance and integrate a portion of the forest within the house. This space not only provides a visual continuity between the interior and exterior but also becomes a meeting place between the inhabitants and the surrounding nature. This is one of the architecture projects by the architect Lucas Maino Fernandez, recognized and appreciated in the contemporary architectural scene.

Common spaces: between external and internal nature

The common spaces of Casa Un Patio are structured in a fluid area that connects the external forest with the internal one. This layout allows for an uninterrupted continuity with nature, ensuring both light and warmth thanks to the presence of the central patio, a vital element in a context characterized by shade and coolness.

Orientation and relationship with the environment

The structure of Casa Un Patio is designed to maximize the relationship with the surrounding environment through its facades:

North: rises from the ground, surpassing the tree canopies to capture the northern light

South: establishes a direct dialogue between the living spaces of the house and the forest

West: features a blind facade with a staircase connecting the different levels of the house

East: accompanies the access corridor with large glass surfaces, inviting nature inside
