The project was conceived along the banks of a lake in the Laurentian in a wooded area with a considerable slope. This altitude, which offers a bird's eye view of the lake, is the backbone for the development of this architectural project: grasping the earth through the fusion of two intersecting areas
Lake residence in North America. Gabled roof and wooden sections for the Residence
The residence was designed by Atelier Boom Town for two brothers who wish to meet and spend special occasions with their families, relaxing in contact with nature along the banks of a lake in the Laurentian, North America
The subdivision of the building's forms has made it possible to integrate it with the landscape. Its establishment is part of a circuit where the routes extend internally, creating points of view, such as observation plots, towards the surrounding landscape
The upper area, which takes the shape of a characteristic gabled roof, faces the lake, while the lower area is still on the slope. Both areas are cut at their intersections to give way to vertical circulation and the underlying atrium. This pivot space aligns the entire interior circulation area and allows the core of the building to connect with the exterior
The lower floor has a more contemporary shape with its flat roofs and very large openings. The living space, which is on two levels, benefits from the view over the lake. On the one hand, a large screen shelter completes the lower area. A large terrace is located on the roof at the other end
From the outside, the subtle colors and raw materials enable the project to assert itself in all its nuances, as if it had emerged from the ground making it environmentally friendly. The black wood outer finish unifies the composition under a zinc roof. The building overlooks the lake and gives the impression of a refuge. The light wood sections that illuminate the darkened structure as a whole are similar to the rays of the sun that pass through the clouds after a storm
