The lot where the Cherry Tree House stands has a conspicuous difference in elevation: because of this in the original building the ground floor resembled a poorly lit basement, but fortunately it had been possible to position the terraced house by carving out a small tree-lined garden even though it was difficult to access precisely because of the difference in elevation. In addition, the main rooms were oriented in the direction of the sun but faced the street. The interior layout was distributed with one apartment on each floor of the building with a common entrance

The Cherry Tree House project is a reconstruction of a terrace house for the needs of today's family for comfortable city living. The same type of "terrace house" is repeated in the neighborhood streets where pseudo-mansard roofs, partial prefabs, and materials from the early 1990s can be found
The redevelopment project of SOA architekti architectural firm, in order to meet the new need for a single dwelling for the clients' family, first included the unification of the house with the direct connection of all floors: the staircase becomes the new center of the Cherry Tree House layout. The ground floor remains a service room but is redistributed in a more functional way and expanded below the garden to create a gymnasium. A large window is opened in the stairwell
On the second floor of the Cherry Tree House, an interconnected space opens up with the staircase at the center and distributes all the rooms. A large sliding door connects the living room with the garden: visual connections with the latter, both in the living room and in the rest of the house, become one of the central elements of the design. On the top floor are the bedrooms accessed by a narrow walkway that runs around the staircase. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and a private bathroom. A study was originally planned, but during construction an additional bedroom was chosen
The exterior layout of the house is based on the shape of the original attic: Fiber-cement paneling on the facade marks the transition to the roof. Oak windows with frameless glazing are optically connected with the roof edge. The roof houses a sunroom with movable roof covering the entire terrace area in the garden.
The garden, though small, remains a highlight of the house, undergoing challenging changes and its views from inside the house define its new composition. However, the old cherry tree remains its dominant feature
