In the creation of the Chimney House, Dekleva Gregoric Arhitekti studio expertly weaves together elements of local architecture with modern innovations. The kitchen, featuring a wood-burning oven, plays a central role for a couple living in the countryside, both in their private and social life. This pivotal space inspires the arrangement of spaces within the house
Spatial Design for Functionality and Comfort
The centralized arrangement of spaces optimizes functionality and comfort for its inhabitants. The ridge of the roof is projected thus creating a continuous skylight that crosses the linear volume of the house and provides light from above. The house with its dark wood materiality relates to the adjacent wooden barn, but with its own volumetric identity it moves away from it referencing the nearby 16th century church
Exterior and Interior Materials
The exterior is completely defined by the oiled larch boards, with continuity between the facade and roof. Internally, the living spaces, accessible to residents, feature oiled oak finishes, while the roof structure boasts reinforced concrete. The material in which the volume is covered is a clear reference to the vernacular architecture
