Garges-lès-Gonesse Cultural Center in balance between built environment and nature. A reflection of a creative city

The architectural work designed by ARCHI5 brings together the various disciplines that make up the city's cultural landscape. The aim was to stimulate cross-disciplinary activities in the arts and to encourage the development of culture from the new Garges-lès-Gonesse cultural center. The project is centered around the existing Lino Ventura space, featuring a 250-seat auditorium, a 200-seat cinema, a conservatory, and a media library arranged around a spacious, bright, and cross-cutting reception area

The Lino Ventura space is located in a central urban area, in the midst of the city's road network and public transportation system. The new Cultural Center is situated at the crossroads of the two main roads that traverse the city, Avenue du Général Leclerc and Avenue du Général de Gaulle. The design of this new service hub complements the network of existing public facilities, primarily educational: the Simone de Beauvoir high school, the Henri Matisse middle school, and the Paul Langevin primary schools

The green corridor upon which the new Cultural Center stands bears witness to the former path of the decommissioned A16 highway, stretching along the entire western boundary of the lot: a genuine "lung" space that provides respite in a dense urban setting, between the Forte de Stains to the north and the Parc de la Courneuve to the south and the cultural center. The green corridor anchors the project as a milestone and introduces it to visitors in a friendly and welcoming green environment

The project, through its clear layout, its simple and robust volumes, establishes the urban coherence of the site in a symbiotic relationship with the park and the neighboring structures. The large volumes that open up and project towards the city express, in an iconic architectural language, the influence of the city's culture towards new urban, social, and artistic territories
