Headquarters in Bressanone. Wood between technique and dynamism

The project, curated by Studio Modus Architects, involves the expansion of the offices of the company DAMIANI-HOLZ&KO S.p.A. – LignoAlp in Bressanone

The expansion involves the construction of a new building with an integrated underground garage at the old Damiani Legnami headquarters in the South Industrial Zone of Bressanone. The new building, adjacent to the existing one, is connected to it through a new covered glass walkway. The underground garage, located along the municipal road boundary, is connected to the external company space through a ramp

The only break in the compact monolith are the 3 protruding elements covered in CORTEN steel: the entrance compass, welcoming visitors, and the two large windows on the third floor, symbolically facing towards the surrounding woods in a dialogue with the raw material that constitutes the building

The access to the building takes place through two distinct entrances. The entrance on the west side, which opens into a large glass window overlooking the internal courtyard of the company, leads to the commercial reception and the adjacent secretariat, as well as to the sales/purchasing office located on the ground floor. The main entrance, on the other hand, located on the street front and characterized by a glass compass with a large logo door portal, allows visitors to enter the entrance hall with an info-point and, by climbing a short staircase, to go to the first floor or to go down to the ground floor

On the first floor, located at the same level as the existing office building and connected to it through a covered walkway, is the design office and the responsible executives. The administrative part and a small meeting room are located on the second floor. The conference room and the company bar are on the third and last level, organized as a multifunctional open-space that can host conferences, workshops, and exhibition events

The building is certified CasaClimanature, which represents an evaluation of the eco-compatibility of the materials and systems used in construction based on scientific, objective, and transparent criteria, but above all achievable and verifiable. The project designed by Studio Modus Architects fully represents the company Damiani-Holz&KO, which rightly wanted to make its headquarters a work that encapsulates all its experience and culture of wood

The profuse will in the project and in the realization to make "Wood" the true protagonist of the project is evident. Wood, as a construction material, as a flexible technical element suitable for different construction needs, placing the construction solutions developed by the company during its decades of experience as an architectural example of high level
