In the city of Dujiangyan with over a thousand years of history, the Designer has introduced new vitality into this historical and cultural city with the creation of a paradise for booksellers, that is, the Dujiangyan Zhongshuge bookshop. At the entrance you are immediately greeted by C-shaped shelves in a natural walnut colour. The seemingly irregular sequence creates the intimacy of the space and becomes a highlight in the entrance hall
Bookshop like a Bamboo Forest in China. Interwoven shelves like a wall built with historical culture
X + Living carries out this project inspired by tradition and gives importance to the book as a cultural and historical heritage for a culture. The architecture seems to move like a forest where the "trees" are the books themselves that create hidden paths
The unique and lively shape of the arch creates a new path and subtly divides the forum area. Walking under the shelf is like walking along a gutter in the open air or entering a mountain as you wander through books, it seems as if time slows down. As you enter the reading space, you notice the images of the "landscape" different from traditional bookshops and the deep cultural heritage
As you walk through the winding street between the bookcase wall, the children's reading area suddenly appears. The random, irregular green bamboo has been transformed into shelves. The designer decorates the children's area with the panda element, which crawls on branches, creating an artistic and natural concept. As you look down, the colourful cushions are stacked like hills, creating an enchanting and dreamy reading atmosphere for the children
In the Central Literature District, the designer uses the mirrored ceiling to visually expand spatial ductility and create an open, heightened feeling. The bookcase wall inspired by the magnificent Dujiangyan dam stretches upwards like a super wall built with historical culture as a functional support for books
