Campus in India. The geometries of Architecture fit into the natural landscape

The hill where the Campus is located has a temple at its feet. The challenge faced was to build a path to the campus that would grow over time in a liberal University of Education. Therefore, the land would have to be acquired in parts and might not necessarily be adjacent to each other

The campus was created as a center for liberal education, it meant that it was important to "mix" rather than have distinctions between departments or disciplines. The classroom was to be considered as just a part of the learning process, assuming that learning would take place everywhere. This also offered the opportunity for random encounters between students from different disciplines and between teachers and students, which had to be created

The project had to be planned in such a way that as the campus grew, the natural beauty within which it was located remained visible. This was not only an aesthetic requirement but part of the university's philosophy of being in harmony with its surroundings, Nature acting as a place of reflection and comfort

This backbone is intersected by a series of squares, the University Plaza is the largest. It is the main place of arrival and is flanked by the library, visual and artistic blocks, the dining room and two cafes. Rising 17 m along the hill, the spine has various structures spread out along its whole length

The entrance to a structure is through a door in the traditional sense of the wadas of Pune. These entrances act as service blocks for the structures inside. At the southern end, the spine ends in an amphitheatre, which cuts through the administration and student services building and connects to the surrounding hills
