Inside a pure white space of the historic Perretta Palace in Eboli, a floating mahogany cube pierced by irregular paths and spaces composes the architecture within the architecture of The Cube: the small residence designed for the poet Angela Panaro

A small wooden architecture contained by a large masonry architecture

Architect Luca Bruno is inspired by the painting "Girolamo in his study" by Antonello da Messina when envisioning the concept for The Cube: a small wooden architecture contained by a large, historic masonry architecture. This is how he pursues his intention to give back to the client a home that resembles her, speaks of her essence as a scholar. "The house should be the treasure chest of living."

Evoke emotion and inspiration through architecture

Author of, among other architectural projects, "The Poetry Room" for the same client, architect Luca Bruno with this "deconstructed wooden cube" in contrast with the accentuated white of the "container" architecture, aims to give her emotion and inspiration. On the second floor of Palazzo Perretta, a noble building located in Piazza San Lorenzo in Eboli, a 26 square meter room, 3.85 meters high, contains The Cube, allowing this space to become an essential yet welcoming residence full of personality

The distribution of spaces in a continuity between outside and inside, below and above

Entering on the right, you immediately find the stairs leading to the upper level of the cube: here I encounter in succession a small overlook onto the area below, a fold-down desk, a bookcase, a spacious wardrobe, and finally the bedroom space. From above, you can always look out onto the double-height void and never lose visual contact with the outermost container. At the lower level, an area set up with a dining table and then back inside the cube with: a built-in sofa for moments of relaxation, an integrated kitchen, and the bathroom

The Cube finishes: mahogany, beech, and red travertine

The materials are chosen for their quality and their affinity with the client: mahogany for its preciousness, beech as a tribute to writing, being used in the past for paper, both woods contribute to thermally and acoustically insulate the spaces contained in The Cube; we also find inserts in red travertine both for the kitchen worktops and for the bathroom coverings
