Project for the school in Abruzzo. Architectural expansion oriented towards the landscape

The project proposed by the team of LCA Architects for the redevelopment and expansion of the school in Pescina, in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, was to develop a genuine intergenerational civic pole which would be appealing to the community

The objectives of the project carried out by the LCA Architects design team were: the integration and architectural redevelopment of the entire complex and the development of a proposal for organic expansion that is strongly related to the area and the landscape

The project introduces the new school to the natural elements: the river and the small park beyond the riverbed.
The innovation of the Architects' proposal is characterized by the attempt to create a progressive and stimulating path that accompanies the student from the city to nature. The proposed participation path tends to develop the use of the future Campus as a new civic and environmental centre

Students and teachers together with the rest of the citizens enjoy the structure even outside normal school hours; the programming of coordinated and multi-sector activities contributes to the development of social relations
