Green building and design come together to create Villa TR in Valtellina

In the Rhaetian Alps, among the meadows of Mello in the province of Sondrio, overlooking the valleys with Lake Como in the background, Villa TR combines with its architecture of simple and rigorous forms design with a concept of building and living in harmony with nature

A direct relationship between interior and exterior

Inspired by the place where it stands, its light, the changing seasons, simple forms combined with contemporaneity, Villa TR is one of the many residential architecture projects by Studio Bioprogettazionetarca Tarca. The house is oriented towards the south and is designed with large transparent surfaces to allow a direct relationship between the interior and exterior, culminating in the fusion between architecture and nature of the green roof

Architecture of simplicity

Villa TR is a volume with rigorous shapes that follow the lines of the terrain to integrate seamlessly with the site, and with the color of the local earth and stones. Finished in natural lime, it presents the typical materiality of the buildings in the area. The interiors reflect the exterior with their simplicity: a white stage for the interplay of light and shadow created by the sunlight. The seamless concrete floor and the raw metal staircase give a touch of character to the space

Bioclimatic. A house that works with the sun

The building "works" with the sun: in winter, when the sun is low, it floods the floor and part of the walls with light, which, due to their characteristics of great mass, heat up to 28/30 °C; in summer, the high sun on the horizon is filtered by movable solar shading, maintaining controlled internal temperature, and natural night-time ventilation, during the cooler hours, thermally discharges the masses. Thanks to the high thicknesses of the insulating materials and the types of materials chosen, the comfort inside Villa TR is of a very high level

Simplicity even in materials: simple and ancient yet sophisticated performance

For the construction of the villa, great care has been taken in choosing materials that are as natural as possible. The insulation in direct contact with the interior is made almost entirely of wood fiber, all the internal coverings and partitions are made of clay bricks (raw earth), as well as the plaster and finishing always in white clay without painting. Clay is a natural, eco-friendly, and recyclable material that does not create waste to be taken to a landfill because it is reused in the form of mortar. In a synthesis of comfort and healthiness, this project pursues the concept of simplicity even in materials: simple and ancient yet with sophisticated performance
