The building was originally a single-family residence occupying the four levels beyond the ground floor. Important renovations have been carried out both at the structural and architectural level in order to obtain an internal distribution suitable for the new destination.
Hotel in Taormina, Sicily. 4 mini-apartments on the Bay
On the beautiful bay of Taormina the architect Beatrice Pierallini transforms a residence into a hotel. At each level there is a small apartment with a view of the beautiful bay of Taormina.
In the re-functioning of the Palazzina Pecaut in Taormina and in the design of its interior we have always kept in mind the contextualization of the property, the important location, the extraordinary view and the strong Mediterranean atmosphere that enters through the windows.
They envisioned clear, bright, sunny open spaces, where the air and light of the Mediterranean contribute to the internal atmosphere of the rooms, where the furniture was not an obstacle and did not impede the sea.
The apartments have been specially designed and built in every part. The choice was made to use essential and contemporary lines made of noble but undecorated materials. The proportions, created by the alternation of voids and solids, by the intersection of lines and surfaces, give a sober and elegant look to the environment, which pleasantly eliminates unnecessary bulk and pays attention to detail.
The Architect creates a fresh and relaxing place, which is welcoming but also tonic and vital. The dominant colour of the furnishings is white, which is in contrast with the canaletto walnut and determines the impact of the space. While the white colour gives an appearance of freshness, cleanliness, the presence of wood and fabrics convey a feeling of comfort and harmony.
The rooms are designed to provide relaxation and tranquility and consist of a single large, bright and airy space that houses the main functions.
The living area is located close to the large French window that opens onto the terrace and the unique panorama, while a difference in elevation made with a floor platform houses the sleeping area.
This difference in height allows the bed area to not be set back and recessed beyond the living area creating a hierarchy of spaces, but to functionally locate the two zones in the space
The rooms are equipped with cupboards, drawers and shelves in order to make your stay comfortable even for long periods of time.
