The project involves the complete renovation of an independent single-family dwelling located in the northwest of Madrid. The main work consists of generating a double height around the living area of the house and creating a lobby on the upper floor
Double volume for the bookcase. Functionality and aesthetics for a renovation in Madrid
Zooco Studio's renovation project revolves around the double volume of the dining area, with books becoming the decorative element of the house combined with a binary selection of materials: oak wood on the floor and white for the other surfaces

A bookcase stands out in the double volume, becoming the unifying element and "colonising" both the living spaces and the lobby. As a result, aesthetics and functionality are integrated into a single element. The first section of the staircase is a solid elevated volume in contrast with the second section, which is constructed using folded sheet metal
The material selection is binary: herringbone oak for the floors and white surface finish for the shelves, walls and ceiling. This pattern is reversed only in the kitchen, where the floor is made of white resin and the surfaces of the doors of wood
