Architecture embedded in the landscape is almost a discipline in itself. The architects of Mjolk architekti know this well. After careful site analysis, they took completely different approaches to the series of 5 lookouts, of which The Lookout Spike is a part

The decade-long design of the lookouts explores building in the great outdoors. The diversity of the individual projects stems from the different approaches to each site, making the series a showcase of architectural forms, always based on careful analysis of the site and the logic behind each project
The Lookout Spike stands on the rocky summit of Malý Špičák and looks down into the valley of the confluence of the Desná and Kamenice rivers. The aim of the project was to create a small but distinctive architecture. A building as delicate and elusive as a dewdrop that barely touches the rock
The architecture of the lookout point has three thin steel legs and a shiny belly reflecting granite, trees, people, and sky. The vantage point, accessible by a staircase, offers a view of Tanvald and the surrounding mountains. The image reflected on the curved surface below is distorted, the colors and reflections blurred
