In Moscow's Malevich Park, among the artist's favorite landscapes and the source of inspiration for his works, artist Gregory Orekhov pays tribute to the work "Black Square" with an equally emblematic sculpture
Gregory Orekhov, masterfully integrates the artwork into the environment in which it stands, connecting the viewer to the landscape space so dear to Malevič. The sculpture appears as a kind of "black square" that serves as a passageway into the park: according to the artist's idea, once the viewer enters this "square," he is faced with a fork in the road: enter the park or project himself into infinity
That is, it was possible thanks to the two polished stainless steel mirrors placed in the two halves of the cube. The work emulates nature, whose value has been lost over time, responsible for progress and the passage of time. In his work, the artist also seeks to return to the use of more traditional techniques, which bring art back to its true nature
The viewer becomes an accomplice, falling into an endless corridor of reflections. The dynamics of the viewer's movement become intriguing within the static figure. The spatial development of the "Black Square" is found within the structure, transition from Malevič's two-dimensional shape to Orekhov's three-dimensional figure
