Akb Architects' boathouse project stands out from the rugged beauty that surrounds it, creating a warm, elegant and environmentally friendly home. The design of the cottage consists of three distinct but interconnected "pods" that have an open communal space flanked by private bedrooms

A rocky enclave with a rugged beauty is where Akb Architects designed Metrick Cottage, a one-storey, wood-panelled boathouse on the shores of Lake Joseph in Ontario

The accommodation rooms are carefully positioned in the landscape and overlook a stone ridge creating a visual boundary for privacy. A variety of wood textures have been used for the cladding, from semi-carbonised fir cladding to ash wood which wraps around the interior floors, walls and ceilings
The cottage blends elegantly into the grounds and landscape and offers a panoramic view of the lake and the coast. It is an oasis of serenity for the Metrick family, who commissioned the project
