In the outskirts of Prague, stands the new Town Hall of Ďáblice: a multipurpose building that does not aim to be a self-celebratory monument, but rather an ode to public utility
Light and air as symbols of public service
Designed by A.LT architekti, the essence of the design of the new Town Hall of Ďáblice is characterized by transparency and maximum openness. The elements of light and air embody the principle of public service: the building aims to be an abstract box and therefore adorns its main facade with a shimmering white-silver reflective pattern
Citizen Spaces
The new Town Hall of Ďáblice is a simple and extremely accessible building, all on one floor, and is composed of four distinct sections, connected by the vestibule: the medical offices, the multifunctional hall, the municipal offices, and the post office. The vestibule is not only a distribution space but also a welcoming and versatile environment, to be used for parties, events, concerts, and exhibitions. The building also features an internal patio that provides more openness and light to the spaces that overlook it
Solid wood structure and smart technology
The interior spaces are flexible and adaptable to various needs; the finishing materials used have neutral tones that reflect the public character of the intervention and amplify the brightness. The load-bearing structure is made of solid wood frames measuring 4 meters by 4. Externally, the building is clad with insulating panels and features a green roof. Internally, acoustic linings and structural aids are used, with Panbex floors. The heating and cooling, both in winter and summer, are managed by air-to-air heat pumps, an electric boiler, and an underfloor heating system in common areas as an additional heat source
