Thanks to the building's courtyard, architect Valentì Albareda designed a home that can communicate extensively with the outside world through the large, fully-opening window which runs almost the entire height of the building
Nil Dos House, from a construction warehouse to an urban loft in the centre of Barcelona
In the heart of the Gràcia district, a warehouse belonging to a small construction company defies the darkness and the bizarre internal fragmentation and is turned into Nil Dos House: a luminous dwelling, an oasis of peace and vegetation

The original interior layout consists of lofts and suspended compartments; Albareda's design takes advantage of this conformation in order to create an articulated, original space that makes use of the large interior heights. With the new design, the pine wood floors are extended into the area to become furnishings: a table, lighting fixtures, etc.
The original materials are cleaned up and left visible, giving them a prominent place in the compositional and material style of the new home.
The white walls help to bring out the light and the pre-existing materials, together with the huge black iron and glass revolving door which leads to the private oasis in the heart of Barcelona
All the furnishings were made to measure and cared for in every detail in order to perfectly complement the industrial chic style of this fascinating living space that is both sophisticated and rustic
