Volumes and materials that dialogue with the urban fabric for the Nuevo Quilmes Plaza Shopping Center

The professionals from Forcinito Arquitectos studio have designed the Nuevo Quilmes Plaza Shopping Center with the aim of remedying the presence of this urban barrier, the lack of services, and the absence of proximity to medium-sized commercial premises. The new complex will provide a mix of unprecedented uses, also accompanied by offices and professional studios, generating new synergies

This plot, which once constituted a barrier in the city, will become through design a social and commercial link between the city and the private neighborhood, consolidating a large unused urban space. The design proposal has a sustainable vocation, respects the ancient tree species that populated the site, incorporating them into the landscape and making them protagonists; as for the Ombú trees that, surrounded by the commercial promenade, are involved in the architecture in an organic and dynamic attitude

The shopping complex consists of a commercial area on the ground floor and first floor, a supermarket, a six-level office building, and a large open-air parking lot. The morphological approach of the project comprises volumes that extend the urban fabric of the city, adopting different heights and playing with technical solutions and materials, connecting to the functions that the new buildings must address with a contemporary and careful reading of the site

In one corner of the plot stands the office building: made of exposed reinforced concrete and glass, it solidifies a recognizable formal image and offers flexible and bright workspaces. Continuing through Nuevo Quilmes Plaza, the lower volumes that contain the commercial areas are resolved with a mixed structure clad in perforated sheet metal and glass, generating a tectonic counterpoint supported by its functionality
