Where a drop of water begins its long journey to the sea, the new platform on the Val Senales glacier has been created. To narrate the fascinating story of this place, the studio noa* has conceived an extraordinary project: a panoramic platform in corten steel that incorporates the existing summit cross and offers visitors a unique mountain experience.
Characterized by an organic-shaped architecture that reflects the natural topography of the location, the platform is made with a deck composed of grids supported by thin beams and surrounded on all sides by vertical corten steel plates. The arrangement of the vertical elements, at the height of the parapet, follows the slightly rounded profile of the structure.
The resulting effect is magical: by shifting your gaze, the images give way to new perspectives, inviting the observer to discover ever-changing viewpoints. This dynamic stimulates curiosity and allows for a sensory experience that momentarily stops time and satisfies more than any other souvenir.
Speaking of time: in the wavy form, a slit with well-defined geometries directs the gaze towards the fascinating location of the discovery of Ötzi, the iceman. This element is also made of corten steel and, like the railing plates, is exposed to the weather, which has changed its color from dark brown to gray and finally to black, making it blend in with the surrounding environment.
Resting on the ground only where strictly necessary, the structure stands out in the landscape as a suspended construction, from which to embrace the mountains with the gaze and be intoxicated by the scent of freedom. The platform ends with a glass railing suspended in the void, an invitation to abandon all thoughts and immerse oneself in an adrenaline-fueled experience.
