Preistoriche Green Lodge: A Zero-Emission Hospitality Project

In the heart of Montegrotto Terme, eight suites beckon with a promise of relaxation amidst nature. Crafted from natural materials and equipped with wellness amenities, the Preistoriche Green Lodge apartments offer a unique retreat in harmony with sustainable principles

A Visionary Design Approach

As part of the Terme Preistoriche Resort & Spa, the Green Lodges embody a zero-emission approach to hospitality. Designed by Studio Apostoli, four wooden stilted structures house seven suites, connected by a raised system of ramps, walkways, and accessible terraces. Additionally, a historically preserved villa represents the eighth and most extensive offering in this visionary venture. The designed structures and outdoor spaces are supported on 160 micro piles, preserving the roots of the ancient trees

Integration with Nature

The initial stage of the project involved determining the placement of the lodges, prioritizing the preservation of trees on the site. Rather than removing them, the architects seamlessly incorporated the trees into the architecture. "The lodges are shaped by the land's morphology and 'carved' out of the trunks, which are visible from the inside through glass systems", explains Alberto Apostoli

Achieving Zero CO2 Emissions

Achieving zero CO2 emissions stands as a crucial element within the wellness-centered concept, encompassing environmental consciousness and personal well-being, perfectly resonating with Studio Apostoli's holistic philosophy. In the Preistoriche Green Lodge project, it is nature that guides the architecture and suggests a sustainable approach. In addition to their unique siting and integration with the environment, the lodges are clad in larch slats and built using an eco-friendly construction method based on wood. What's more, they have a heating system powered by thermal water

Harmonious Interior Design

In each apartment, distinguished by a different color palette designed to evoke relaxation and harmony, guests can enjoy proximity to the surrounding park, whether through panoramic windows, terraces, or interior patios that surround ancient trees. According to chief designer of the project, Alberto Apostoli, "The destination's slogan is 'make room for nature,' and it embodies a genuine embrace of vegetation, creating a sanctuary of peace, a tribute to our land, its rhythms, colours, and sounds”

Fluid Spaces and Sustainable Materials

The living, sleeping, and service areas blend seamlessly together, delineating fluid and relaxing spaces bathed in natural light by day and soft, warm lighting by night. Ranging from 35 to 80 square meters, each suite features warm industrial parquet flooring made from recycled waste tiles, minimizing environmental impact. Furnishings are crafted from wood, with eco-friendly upholstery and fabrics made from sustainable materials, while botanical-themed wallpaper is made from non-woven fabric made of FSC-certified cellulose. Not only does the complex achieve Net Zero, but it also prioritizes inclusivity with two barrier-free cottages designed for maximum accessibility

Holistic Wellness Experience

The apartments at this destination go beyond mere accommodation, offering a holistic wellness experience to guests. Among them, Green Lodge Ceva stands out with its private amenities, boasting a sauna and sensory shower. Similarly, Green Villa Bertha, the largest suite in the beautifully restored historic building, offers these same wellness features along with a Turkish bath and a heated Jacuzzi on the terrace
