On the hill Croix-Rousse in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon, inside a 1950s condominium, the apartment undergoing renovation is brought back to life: the interventions update both the thermal and acoustic comfort, as well as the layout, and the aesthetics to contemporary standards
Interior architect Regis Lannoy designs the new layout of the "Croix-Rousse" apartment: 75 square meters originally divided with a hallway and a windowless bathroom, a bedroom, kitchen, and living room. A focus of Lannoy's interior design projects is natural light and its maximum circulation in the spaces. Here, after the renovation, there are no more windowless areas, the space is open and flooded with light
The new bathroom is located where the old kitchen used to be; the living room and the new kitchen are combined into a spacious living area; the entrance, separated from the living area by a glass partition, benefits from the new brightness of the rooms. To improve the thermal comfort of the apartment, in addition to replacing the windows, insulation of the building envelope is carried out
The furniture in the apartment is custom-designed and made to measure. As the clients are passionate about cooking and good wine, particular importance has been given to the environment for meal preparation and enjoyment. The kitchen is equipped with a very spacious storage area, and a large central island serves as a preparation surface and dining table
The kitchen countertops and central island are covered with white Indian tiles, 10x10 cm in size. The existing wooden floors, laid in a herringbone pattern, have been sanded and varnished, while the kitchen and bathroom tiles have been covered with waxed concrete. In the entrance, the existing travertine floor has been preserved and polished
