The intervention involves the complete demolition of the existing building and the reconstruction of the new condominium Residenza Gorki 75. Ten new residential units in an architectural volume that stands out in its immediate context

The existing building

In Cinisiello Balsamo, in the metropolitan city of Milan, on the corner lot between via Fosse Adreatine and via Gorki, a disused commercial building of three above-ground floors and one underground is completely demolished for the new construction of Residenza Gorki 75. The consolidation of the existing building, which had facades in ochre-colored clinker, would have been too costly compared to complete reconstruction

The new construction

Studio Guzzo, author of numerous architectural projects both residential and commercial, designs the new building following the same outline as the existing one, except for the northeast corner where it plans to add two additional floors, set back from the southern facade. Additionally, it plans to create two storage rooms on the roof for the exclusive use of the apartments below, accessible from the common staircase. On the ground floor, one of the units is used as an office with direct access to the street, while the other has a private garden. All the other apartments on the upper floors, three-bedroom and four-bedroom units all with double bathrooms, enjoy spacious terraces

Architectural composition: simple forms and interplay of solids and voids

The new Gorki 75 Residence presents itself with a simple form: a square volume with clean lines, clad in Decò wood and lightened by glass parapets. A decorative motif that strengthens the project's identity, distinguishing it from the context lacking unified formal references, are the perforated panels in natural aluminum that create a pleasant interplay of solids and voids. With its ten housing units, distributed two per floor, the basement dedicated to the residence's service spaces and garages, the Gorki 75 Residence enriches the urban context in which it is located with its new image that does not deviate from the silhouette of the existing building except for the two additional floors
