Strategically located in the bustling Plaza de España in Barcelona, the Hotel Plaza has embarked on an exciting transformation of its ground floor with the aim of creating a new lobby, bar, and the Simultaneo Restaurant, becoming a gastronomic and cultural space open to the entire city
The platforms create undulating paths around the new circular bar: a node of centripetal energy, almost like a new roundabout that connects to Plaza de España. Thanks to its visible location from the entrance, the bar becomes the focal point that invites visitors inside. The materiality of this area seeks to recreate the ambiance of a garden, with warm wooden ceilings that recall the trees and a natural and neutral color palette that accentuates the vibrant green of the ceramics used for the bar
The hotel's reception is positioned on the same level as the entrance but remains peripheral. Designed with vibrant artisanal ceramics composed of three-dimensional pieces specially made for the project, it aims to engage in dialogue with the bar counter, capturing the freshness and greenery of Montjuic. Venturing further into the project, on the upper level, people are welcomed by a spacious area flooded with natural light thanks to the new translucent covering similar to a greenhouse: beneath the radiant Mediterranean light there is the Simultaneo Restaurant, a new covered garden available to the city with large planters with organic shapes that also serve as benches and create curvilinear paths and a small raised stage
Through careful arrangement, different areas and intimate corners are created where one can settle down, each ideal for a specific occasion or time of the day. This thoughtful configuration allows the Simultaneo Restaurant to fulfill its functional needs as a versatile gastronomic and cultural space where multiple activities can coexist: from breakfast to evening cocktails, from business meetings and family gatherings to conferences and concerts
