Glass, wood, stone and metal are the components of this refuge at the Tonale Pass. A complete integration with its natural surroundings, thanks to the transparency and reflection of glass

The reflection and transparency of glass make this refuge at the Tonale Pass to perfectly integrate with its natural surroundings: glass, wood, stone and metal are its components

The La Baracca Refuge at the Tonale Pass is located at an altitude of almost 200 meters. Its unique and singular structure stands out because of its geometry, but with the use of traditional materials such as wood and stone, it takes up traditional themes, mixing them with the modernity of glass and metal, which integrate perfectly reflecting the surroundings. The result is this accommodating building that gives a sense of order and respite to the surrounding environment

A building that intentionally wants to move away from the traditional typology, made possible thanks to Pharaoh's advanced technologies by succeeding in modifying this theme from a new perspective. The façade made of double glass is supported by two types of columns integrated into the structure: stainless steel and laminated wood. The cruises (spiderglass) and rollers are made of stainless steel, while the slabs are 4 x 3 m. The joints are made with double silicone black thermal gasket

n addition to the innovative project, the challenge also lay in the construction of its structure. Due to its location at a high altitude, the large materials were transported by helicopter and assembled on site. Faraone's qualified workforce made this project feasible, overseeing it through all its phases, from paper to implementation

With the help of existing technologies it is now possible to design and implement extraordinary architectures. And when the project takes into account the surroundings and the landscape from its inception, the results, as in this case, can be astonishing
