Historical restoration in the province of Siena. Farmhouse dating back to the 15th century
The 15th century farmhouse, which has been restored by CMT Architetti, is located in the province of Siena. The villa can be traced back to the work of a Sienese painter and architect who worked in the area between the 15th and 16th centuries

The main idea of the project was to use two parallel systems, the almost philological one for the restoration of the original parts and the absolutely contemporary one for the new interventions and furnishings. The result is a combination in which the two parts interact with very different expressions, but with the constant search for a common final synthesis
The original walls have been covered with a lime plaster which has been coloured with paste and ironed following the example of the ancient fifteenth-century plasters and also the exposed floors have been covered with a light lime glaze. The existing floors have been restored and also veiled with natural lime
The new functional environments for the new housing programme have instead been created as boxes treated with glossy white enamel that never reach the ceiling, but stop first to host lighting themes with LED light
The new floors in the living area were made of light ochre coloured cementitious resin, without any expansion joints. The floors and walls of the bathrooms are also made of the same materials. The floors in the sleeping area, on the other hand are all made of natural oxidized oak parquet processed with lime
All the furnishings of the house, with the exception of a few recovered objects, have been designed and crafted by local craftsmen. The furniture is made of recycled oak wood with black streaks, raw iron sheet treated with natural wax and matt lacquered wood parts. The kitchen top is made of matt polished black marble
The apartment designed by CMT architetti is equipped with radiant heater plate, home automation control for each function and lighting completely made with LED lighting
