RMD House: luxury and craftsmanship in harmony with nature

The RMD House is much more than just a residence; it is a space that combines luxury, nature, artistic expression, and personal interests. Adorned with carefully curated artworks and wildlife photographs of the owners, the house reflects a place where they can truly feel at home, celebrating the beauty of nature and the importance of personal connections.

A luxury retreat surrounded by nature

In the heart of Delhi, but far from the city's frantic chaos, lies the interior of RMD House, designed by Studio Hive. One of the house projects that represents a masterpiece of design and encapsulates the concept of slow luxury, creating a space that fosters a deep connection with nature and the personal interests of its inhabitants.

A design that celebrates inner and outer connection

The design of the RMD House was inspired by the client's desires for slow luxury and an artistic life. The central philosophy of the project is connection, both internal and external. Despite the structural limitations of the house, which prevented changes to room sizes or bathroom layouts, the Studio Hive team managed to reconfigure the spaces to meet the owner's new needs. By adding connecting spaces without causing structural damage, the final design creates a space that resonates with the owner's passions, such as photography, wildlife, and hospitality.

Elegance and functionality in material choices

The facades of the RMD House strike a harmonious balance between two distinct materials, responding to the surrounding residential environment and creating a sense of continuity with the neighborhood. The base of the facade, clad in wood, seamlessly integrates with the context, while the upper part, featuring folds of corrugated metal inspired by origami, imparts a dynamic and lightweight appearance to the building. This fusion of materials not only expresses the refined aesthetics of the project but also respects the natural environment.

Themed and Customized Spaces

Each room in the RMD House has been designed with a specific theme in mind, reflecting the passions and desires of the residents. For example, the daughter's room has been transformed into a fairy kingdom with a playful slide and walls in raspberry pink achieved through a lime wash technique. The guest room, on the other hand, has been conceived as a versatile canvas, enriched by sculptural lighting and furnishings adaptable to the varying tastes of guests. The master bedroom offers a serene retreat with panoramic views, while the parents' room embraces understated elegance with neutral tones and luxurious materials.

The art of sustainability

The RMD House project has embraced a sustainable approach, using construction techniques that minimize the carbon footprint. The structure made of laminated spruce, sourced from Austria, provides not only strength and durability but also a more eco-friendly construction process through off-site prefabrication. Solar panels installed on the complex generate renewable energy, while the excavation resulting from construction has been used to create undulations in the park, optimizing rainwater collection.

Carefully crafted details and refined craftsmanship

Every aspect of the RMD House has been designed with meticulous attention to detail. The lime-based paint unifies the entire space, while the bar, crafted from a 2-ton eucalyptus trunk and finished with the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, is a testament to refined craftsmanship. Artworks and installations, including the vases and planters from Atelier Vierkant, add a touch of sculptural and functional elegance to the interiors.
