Giulia de Apollonia's Architecture Workshop is in charge of the architectural design of the School gym Zanella in Villafranca, including in the careful study of the building technology to be adopted. The existing concrete structure is covered all from the inside through the construction of suitably insulated plasterboard counterwalls. On the two sides of the gymnasium space are large window surfaces, consisting of a polycarbonate outer layer and transparent glass inner layer

Two ramps lead on the short sides from the lowered level of the play space to the 80 cm higher level of the locker rooms and service spaces.
The entire play area that has a lime-colored PVC finish is covered with wall protection panels about one meter high made of anthracite gray Valchromat (wood fiber mixed with colored resins)
The real peculiarity of this intervention lies in the realization of an acoustic false ceiling over the entire play space made of Celenit (mineralized wood fiber) that integrates within a smooth plane folded on the ends all the technical components: the lighting realized through recessed LED strips, the intake of new air through linear diffusers on the perimeter of the false ceiling in the junction with the glass windows, and any other technical device.
The connection between the false ceiling and the wall, made by a metal flashing completely detaches the roof from the walls, accentuating the feeling of levitation
