SEGUR flat: light and wood awaken the soul of a Parisian refuge

The desire for light and space is the driving force behind the renovation of SEGUR flat in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, just a few streets away from Les Invalides: 50 square meters are skillfully redesigned to accommodate a generous kitchen, a large dining table, and a comfortable living room

Spatial perception: a matter of square meters?

Spatial perception does not depend solely on the available square meters, but on the ability to organize spaces wisely and creatively: SEGUR flat, thanks to the ingenuity of the designers at faire architecture, author of several architectural projects, completely overturns the living experience of this small 50 sqm Parisian apartment, transforming it into an extremely functional space.

The fundamental requirements: light and connection between spaces

After a careful analysis of the original floor plan, the architects decided to remove most of the existing walls and install a large glass wall, allowing light to flow freely throughout the apartment. This design choice has created a sense of open space and fluid connection between rooms and volumes, transforming the environment into a bright and harmonious place.

Structuring space: the use of wood

In SEGUR flat, space is perceived as a harmonious whole, simultaneously open and skillfully divided into three distinct volumes in wood. The use of this natural material allows for structuring the environments in a way that they remain connected, without interrupting the visual and functional dialogue between them. This design choice maintains a smooth continuity between the different areas of the house, creating a welcoming and balanced environment.

The first volume: the kitchen

One of the volumes of the apartment is the kitchen: it is made of wood and granite, and opens up to the entire apartment, allowing views, light, and movement to flow. The woods used are okoumé and birch. The combination of wood with grooved glass and the granite countertop creates a succession of spaces that are complex and generous.

The second volume: the library

The second volume is made up of the library, where designers play with the alternation of light and dark woods, round and linear shapes, full and empty spaces. Offering a large amount of hidden storage space, the entire library is animated by the contrast between the hand-turned ipe wood uprights, birch plywood shelves, and okoume plywood faces.

The third volume: the wardrobe

The third volume consists of the wardrobe, designed and custom-made. The wardrobe is located in the bedroom, and in addition to being a common wardrobe, it combines storage space, a desk, and bedside tables wrapped around the bed, making the most of the available space around the bed.
