The pavilion was installed in 2015 as part of the Barfotastigen exhibition in Korppoo, Finland. The project was to be on-site for four months, but due to its popularity it was maintained on a long-term basis. During the second year of the project, Korppoo - the island on which it is located, started hosting summer concerts next to the project as part of the renowned jazz festival "Korppoo Sea Jazz"

Shiver House, designed by the Neon Studio is a radical reinvention of the common Finnish refuge. The project is an "animal" kinetic structure that moves and adapts in response to the surrounding natural forces, creating a link between inhabitants and the natural world
Shiver House is an exploration of the idea that architecture can be used as a means to create a closer emotional bond between its inhabitants and the natural world in which it finds itself. In addition, the project explores the idea that architecture can be made to seem "alive" with the intention that this will generate a deeper and more lasting emotional relationship between people and the structures we inhabit
While the world is adapting to Covid-19's new reality, it is important to put more emphasis on how architecture, art and design could be used as a means of reducing anxiety, connecting us with nature and bringing people together in public spaces. The architecture of Shiver House is in a constant state of transformation and performs with the ever-changing flows of the wind
The house uses 600 kinetic counter-bridge shingles that respond to the changing weather conditions of the site. Wind, rain and snow make the shingles rotate in an enclosed position giving the structure the temporary appearance and function of a shelter. The Shiver House is constantly transformed between being a functional shelter and a poetic and experiential device
