Innovation and sustainability on display: the new Domal showroom.

A new permanent space in the heart of Milan

Domal, a well-known brand within the Hydro group, has recently inaugurated its new showroom in the heart of Milan. This permanent space has been designed to showcase the latest innovations in sustainable aluminum building envelopes, including windows, sliding doors, and continuous facades. The project, born from a collaboration with the Milanese creative studio Lascia la Scia, has achieved LEED GOLD certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and promises to offer a unique experience to visitors.

An experiential and engaging design

The new Domal showroom is considered innovative among interior design projects because it overturns the traditional idea of a technical-functional exhibition space, adopting an experiential approach with high emotional and scenic impact. The goal is to guide the visitor through a journey of discovering the products in a welcoming environment, with a Nordic and informal atmosphere. The spaces have been designed to be not only exhibition areas but also comfortable workspaces for professionals, with dedicated zones for in-depth technical exploration of the products.

Natural Materials and Sustainable Design

The essential simplicity and neutral tones of the cladding materials, such as wood and TerraVista, the raw earth plaster by Matteo Brioni on the walls, evoke the natural world. This design creates a cozy and comfortable environment, where products are presented in different colors and not just displayed, but integrated as elements for dividing and defining spaces. An example is the continuous facade and the Weese operable wall, which serve a dual aesthetic and practical function.

An innovative exhibition tunnel

One of the most distinctive elements of the new showroom is the exhibition tunnel that is almost 14 meters long, running parallel to Viale Biancamaria. This monochromatic architectural structure, made with a white metal mesh, plays with the natural element and the idea of dematerialization of the walls, highlighting Domal products such as hinged and sliding windows with minimal and colorful profiles. Particularly innovative are the SOLEAL Next solutions, with a 75% recycled aluminum content and 95% recyclable, and the panoramic sliding doors.

Thematic Spaces and Multimedia Areas

The ground floor is dedicated to the exhibition of products divided by brand, with a refreshment area adjacent to an office area. Along the side walls of the showroom, two thematic areas have been created: on one side, four arches welcome a selection of Axalta colorations and a work table for in-depth technical discussions; on the other side, a wall is dedicated to the storytelling of the aluminum life cycle, highlighting its recycling properties.

Also on the ground floor, the area dedicated to WICONA features a portion of a continuous semicircular facade with curved glass and an integrated opening window. This sculptural structure creates a small lounge area where visitors can sit and enjoy a coffee. The office area is defined by a fully opening Weese glass wall, ensuring flexibility and visual continuity.

A multifunctional environment

In the basement, partner rooms are characterized by simple yet welcoming furnishings and lighting. The central room is flexible and multifunctional, suitable for conferences, training, or as an additional lounge area. Here, technology and nature come together thanks to the videowall and the stabilized green wall, creating a dynamic and breathable space.
