Like grapes, this project was created from the seeds of a close collaboration between the designer and client. The Stoney Rise Winery offers a variety of functions, from tours of the winery, to wine tastings, to dinners and social gatherings. The design approach puts the visitor experience at the forefront

As you arrive at the site you are greeted by the long front of the building. While walking, the structure welcomes the visitor, sheltering them from the wind, towards the first wine-tasting and, in the same way, when they feel enveloped by the building, the landscape invites them to return to nature, which frames the rural context
In the design, emphasis was placed on locally sourced, natural, unprocessed and long-lasting materials that will age over time, just like fine wine. Renewable spotted rubberwood wraps from the inside to the outside and a combination of Bowral blue and locally sourced Daniel Robertson brick provide thermal mass and ground the building in its Tasmanian wine context
