The Ocho Cascadas installation and the "curiosity" to flow towards the unknown

In the temporary installation at the Festival of Ephemeral Interventions in Tortosa "A Cel Obert", Eletres Studio transforms Passaggio Franquet into a "river" whose incessant flow, fed from above, crosses the central space

The spotlight shines on Passaggio Franquet

The Peruvian architecture design studio Eletres Studio chooses the architecture projects laboratory as the location for its temporary installation aimed at enhancing the architectural and cultural heritage of the city of Tortosa, in Spain, the Passaggio Franquet, a central axis that connects two blocks of houses, a historical heritage of the city, whose construction dates back to the end of the 19th century.

Continuous space like the flow of a river

Eletres Studio addresses the theme of the festival, curiosity, as a constant need to flow through the unknown, associating it with a natural element, the river. The Franquet Passage indeed takes the form of a channel with a constant and fearless flow fed by eight waterfalls that converge into it from above.

Vertical experience contrasts with the horizontal axis

The spatial configuration of the passage is transformed by the insertion of vertical elements that change the unidirectional view of the street. The visitor at the entrance is surprised by the combination of height and extension of the passage, enticing them to explore the architecture of the building and the views from the upper floors.

The installation blends with the textures of the place

Eight vertical elements, ranging in height from 8 to 16 meters, plus the longitudinal element covering the floor, 35 meters long with a 3-meter section, make up the project. The elements have been previously worked to achieve the movement effect, and the material allows natural light to blend the installation with the textures of the place, allowing light to filter into the dwellings.
