The Morel de Vindé Recreational Center welcomes you in a wooden embrace

To complement the buildings that make up the homonymous school complex, the Morel de Vindé Recreational Center integrates both functionally and compositionally with the site. It encloses the school courtyard in an embrace and connects to the surrounding greenery

Dialogue between architecture and landscape

In the municipality of La Celle-Saint-Cloud, in the outskirts of Paris, the SCHÉMAA studio is called upon to design the new Morel de Vindé Recreational Center. Its volume rises in the courtyard of the school complex, positioning itself perpendicular to the existing gymnasium and running along the planted embankment that serves as a separation from the street. This integration of the Center with the green hill transforms the latter into an element of the composition, establishing a pleasant and necessary dialogue between architecture and landscape

Variety of views and stimulating atmospheres

The layout of the Center allows the elementary school classrooms to maintain optimal natural lighting and also creates a contained outdoor space that seems to be embraced by the Recreational Center. The new building has a dual orientation: to the west, the center spaces open up to the courtyard; to the east, canopies and unexpected openings reveal glimpses of the green embankment and the sky. In addition to the excellent natural ventilation that this layout allows, the Center's classrooms also enjoy a variety of views and stimulating and pleasant atmospheres, an optimal feature for school architecture projects

Interior Spaces and Finishes

Inside the new building, a common room serves as a connection between the recreational center and the gym. The activity rooms are designed in modular spaces, mostly open towards the courtyard. Thanks to a removable acoustic partition, two of these spaces can be joined to transform into a single large area.
The new Recreational Center, formally composed of two connected volumes, features a wooden structure and exterior cladding; the latter creates an external grid-like skin, simple and rational, for better integration with the other buildings in the school complex
