Hello Wood has always been interested in contributing to local communities through architecture and the built environment; as part of its educational activities, the firm purchased a 2-hectare plot of land in the enchanting Balaton Uplands as the site of Hello Wood's international summer school and festival during which a temporary village was built by architecture students. Subsequently, the firm sought a new function with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of the area: thus was born the idea of the Rock Houses
Le CASE Roccia Houses, built of runic stones with a comfortable spirit, as housing modules aimed at revitalizing the tourism industry
One of the challenges Hungary faces is countering the emptying of rural villages due to an aging population and a lack of jobs for young people. The Rock Houses are proposed as an attractive element to boost tourism in a hidden corner of the Balaton Uplands

Hidden in the grove, six unique cabins and a reception building were designed and built by Hello Wood: six buildings that reverberate the magic of the ancient settlement surrounded by farmland and blend seamlessly with nature. The monolithic character of the cabins evoking giant runestones is enhanced by the building masses that open only at the terrace and entrance: the homogeneous and sculptural wooden form is not interrupted by windows, doors, or stairs
Irregular planes and vertices define a form reminiscent of a polished stone, made even more distinctive by the paneling, its unique hue and metallic sheen. In contrast to the gray shell, the golden brown of the terrace and interior is revealed as the interior of a cracked geode. The Rock Houses offer a comfortable and cozy space for two people
The 21+15-square-meter cabins feature a living room with a bed, kitchen furniture, built-in closet and dining table, a bathroom with a double shower, and a panoramic infrared sauna. To give it a spa feel, a large hot tub is incorporated into the spacious covered terrace, separated only by a glass window from the sauna accessed directly from the shower. To ensure an intimate and carefree experience, the cabins overlook the surrounding fields and rolling hills
