Versace Home Collection: a contemporary vision with vibrant colors

On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2019, Versace Home returns home, to the complex of buildings in Via Gesù. To present the new Versace Home Collection, Donatella Versace invites Designer Sasha Bikoff to create the installation and exhibition gallery.

Before the Versace family

The neoclassical buildings, dating back to 1782, stand on the site of a former Franciscan convent. The eighteenth-century development you see today encloses a large courtyard, which was one of the decisive factors in the decision to purchase, in 1982, by the Versace family. Over a period of four years, the family bought all the adjacent buildings, with the intention of converting them into headquarters. Drawing inspiration from couture traditions, Gianni Versace decided to combine the design studio, workshop, and his residence.

The collaboration between Donatella and Sasha

Donatella Versace invited Sasha Bikoff and Andy Dixon to join her in creating one of the interior design projects presented in the new Versace Home Collection. Designed by Sasha Bikoff, the carpet is a fusion of Versace's aesthetic, blending past and present, inspired by legendary moments and motifs of Versace. Her goal was to embrace the house codes, incorporating an unexpected interpretation of images and colors.

Design Elements

The carpet design features iconic Versace symbols, blending them with historical and seasonal prints. Floral elements contrast with graphic checkerboards and leopard animal print motifs. The carpet is heavily influenced by the 1980s Art Deco revival, but reinvented in a contemporary style. Integrated into this, under Bikoff's direction, are works by Andy Dixon, including his nine-meter by seven-meter giant shirt that prominently hangs in the entrance.

Not only Versace Home Collection

For the occasion, the designer also revisits the Home Boutique Versace in Via Borgospesso, which is an appendix of the previous exhibition where the atmosphere is captured with dominant vibrant colors, inspired by Art Deco, as evident throughout the new Home Collection on display, along with pastel palm sculptures. When she created this space, her desire was to share her perception of Versace.
